FAQ

  • How long does the process take?

The entire process typically takes 4-6 months from the time we receive your flowers. This timeline may vary depending on the complexity of your order and my current order volume.

  • What is the ordering process?

First, email me at sarah.d.leist@gmail.com with the date of your wedding, to confirm my availability to receive your flowers. Once I confirm my availability, you can submit your order. After I receive your order, I will send my exact address (Export, PA) and phone number so we can set a drop-off day and time.

  • What if my event has already happened?

I often have clients reach out after an event has already occurred, wondering if it is too late to have their flowers preserved. I am often still able to accept the flowers! Send me an email at sarah.d.leist@gmail.com and include a picture of the flowers in their current state.

  • How should I care for the flowers until I drop them off?

Keep flowers in a vase of fresh water at all times following your event. Refrigeration is not necessary, but a cool, dark location is preferable. Flowers age when exposed to heat, sunlight, or lack of hydration. It is best to drop off flowers in the 1-3 days following an event.

  • How do I care for my pressed flower frame once it is completed?

Choose a location to hang your frame that is free of heat, sunlight, and moisture. Avoid windows, bathrooms, and hot kitchens.

  • Will the flowers in my frame change over time?

As in nature, all flowers and foliage change. I believe that there is beauty in those changes that mark the passage of time. However, I do implement several key strategies to prevent fading. My frames are completely airtight and sealed using silver solder and the Tiffany Technique used by stained glass artists. In addition, I now implement color-restoration for petals that are known to change color rapidly - white, pink, yellow, and orange in particular.

  • Do the 12 x 16 and 10 x 12 frames come with chains?

These frames are too heavy to be supported by a chain. To solve this problem, I include a chain separately in your frame box to be used as decoration ONLY. You will need to use nails through the top corner loops to support the frame, and the chain will not be supporting any of the actual weight of the frame. The chain can be attached with simple pliers. Please reach out if you have any questions about this!

  • How do you create the silver frame?

I use what is known as the Tiffany Technique in stained glass artistry. Combining copper, flux, and silver solder and then applying heat via a soldering iron, I create a metal frame with airtight protection for your flowers. Your heirloom frame is created by me from start to finish.

  • What are some flowers that press well?

Peony, Ranunculus, Anemone, Delphinium/Larkspur, Rose, Hellebore, Hydrangea, Sweet Pea, Snap Dragon, Queen Anne’s Lace, Baby’s Breath, Pansy, Cosmo, Eucalyptus, Astrantia, Astilbe, Dusty Miller, Amaranth, Fern, Sunflower

  • Can I give input on the design?

Absolutely! I will always send a design draft for your approval before making any permanent decisions.

  • Can I ship my flowers from another state?

Yes! I do accept bouquets from anywhere in the United States. I will send a shipping guide with detailed instructions for how to care for, pack, and overnight your flowers, ensuring they arrive safely and in good condition for pressing.

  • Do the soldered frames contain lead?

No, there is no lead at all in my soldered frames. I use Choice Lead-Free Solder to create the silver frames. You can confidently touch and hang your frame without concern!
